Ten Ways to Increase Traffic to your Web Site
Thursday February 11, 2010 by Nick Niesen.

At this point you’ve probably put in a lot of time developing your site. If you’re looking for something to do today, here are ten things for you to do to put the wheel in your favor and acquire new visitors to your site.

  1. Spider your site with the AuditMyPc XML Sitemap Generator and provide the results to Google (via Webmaster Central) to insure all of your web pages are indexed.
  2. Download a search engine submitter and submit your homepage or entire website to the internet’s top search engines [ref: All-in-One Submission].
  3. Submit your site to web directories [ref: Submit Suite Website Submitter].
  4. Exchange links with Top Sites and partner up with other related sites.
  5. Submit blog comments, many blogs allow you to add your website address and link the name you comment as to your website.
  6. Purchase traffic from traffic retailers [ref: AdToll].
  7. Share your expertise in forums and sign your posts with your website URL.
  8. Buy one-way text-links into your site to increase your Google PR (Page Rank).
  9. Submit your site to FFA Sites and FFA Networks [ref: All-in-One Submission].
  10. Add new pages to your website. Pages just like this one are indexed by web crawlers (like GoogleBot and BingBot) and automatically indexed for new visitors to reference.
  11. Bonus - Bookmark your web pages at major social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace), Scuttle sites, Pligg sites, and PhpDugg sites. [ref: OnlyWire & Bookmarking Demon]

As far as internet marketing, the above list hits on the most major points of website promotion, however I could easily continue on with this list. Seems I’ve just started the wheels turning and may be inspired to write up a “Complete List of Internet Marketing Tactics”. Maybe this will have to be my next topic?

What it all boils down to is that the above marketing tactics are all guaranteed (tested) ways to get your website noticed and making some or all of these tasks part of your daily insures that your website will see growth from one day to the next. In fact, you won’t hear this too often across the blogs but it is possible (given the right circumstances) to achieve over-kill using these tactics and put web servers on their knees (obviously not recommended).

A steady stream of traffic is always better then too much or too little.
